In addition to creating Creighton Collaborative, Sean Creighton is the President of The New American Colleges and Universities, a select national network of private campuses advancing through collaboration an integrated liberal, professional, and civic education. Prior to joining NACU, Sean was president at the Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education, where he now holds the title of president emeritus.
Sean served ten years as an elected member of the Board of Education for the Yellow Springs Public Schools, where he had been president and also co-chaired their 2020 Strategic Plan. He also serves on advisory committees and boards for several local and national organizations, including Dayton Literary Peace Prize, International Leadership Association, Springfield Museum of Art, TEDxDayton, and ThinkTV Public Broadcasting.
Sean has published and presented extensively on higher education, collaboration, civic engagement, and talent retention, and is also a principle investigator for the Kettering Foundation on several research projects concerning the civic mission of higher education. Sean has degrees from Marist College and New York University, and earned his PhD from Antioch University. As part of this dissertation research, Sean developed a set of Community Partner Indicators of Engagement.
Sean lives in Dayton with his lovely wife, Leslee, and his five fun children, Liam, Maya, Quinn, Audrey, and Juliette.
